Tubman , ex Mole Hall chimp .

Unfortunately his companion Joey died recently . He seemed happy enough interacting with a member of staff , who said he is very habituated to humans , unlike Joey .

Some of these chimps are so long lived( almost sad really).:(. I saw this one and the other 'Joey' at Mole Hall Zoo- my only visit there which was so many years ago now I can't even remember the place. This old chimp was already an adult then, yet he is still going strong..

thats so sad to hear about joey . someone i know saw him in recent weeks and said both boys looked fine does anyone know anymore details ?

Very sad to hear that Joey has died. I hope Tubman is doing okay. I used to visit the two chimps at Mole Hall. I heard that the people at Cefn yr Erw are not talking much about Joey's cause of death. Any more information would be greatly appreciated.

He must have been very old so whatever actually caused his death I don't think it would reflect on his recent care.

So So sad, I worked with Joey and Tubs for 10 years during the 90's at Mole Hall. Joey was a great chimp, kind, gentle and very loving.
The old keepers and owners at Mole Hall had to find out he died 3rd hand over a week later which is heart breaking!

      My heart is broken :(
      RIP my beautiful boy! xxxxxxxx

Sorry but Joey loved people!!! He would spend all day grooming me if given half a chance, more than Tubs did!

Both Joey and Tubman interact well with humans , to say Joey didnt is very wrong !

No-one knows .. not even the Garens until the cause of death results come back .

I am actually quite surprised that Joey and Tubman have lived so long as when they first came to Cefn both were extreemly overweight and both suffered oral problems which must have caused them considerable pain over many months if not years..
