What species?

Someone who knows what kind of bird this might be? The picture is from London Zoo and the bird was found just inside the entrance, it was the first animal we saw. November 2005.

      Looks like a male weaver, my guess is the lesser masked weaver (Ploceus intermedius).

      The aviary was built in 2002 and at the time was stocked with a colony of Village Weavers , however this photo is not a Village Weaver but one of the Masked species as mentioned , my feeling is it is Ploceus intermedius as the black covers more of the head. It is a male aswell. Hope that helps. Zupu.
