What happened to it then? I never expect there is still Asiatic golden cat in North America so recently.

@baboon I have no idea but it is more than likely that the cat died of old age. Mountain View Conservation Centre sent away most of its exotics years ago and I'm curious myself as to what happened to this very rare specimen.

@snowleopard Thank you! It is really a shame that this species disappearing from North America.

@snowleopard bumping an old conversation I know but would you happen to know what species the center still keeps?

@ThylacineAlive The days of this place having 35 African wild dogs, or a Temminck's golden cat, or a rusty spotted cat, or even sitatunga, aardwolves, brown hyenas, mountain tapirs, Vancouver Island marmots, vicunas, etc., are long over. Other than northern spotted owls, there probably isn't much else left there these days.

Here is an informative article from 2016:

@snowleopard That's very unfortunate... even without the wild cats, tapirs, and hyenas (all of whom I assumed left long ago), they seemed to have been doing great work with giraffes, antelope, wild dogs, marmots, and amphibians and I'm sad to hear that's all over with now. At least they continue with the owl.
