      July 2008. Okapi.

The surrounding foliage makes this arguably the best okapi exhibit in North America, if not the world. The lush vegetation is one of the highlights of Congo Gorilla Forest.

Is Congo Gorilla forest replanted each year or were plants chosen that could survive the winter?
    • Zooplantman
The plants used are fully winter hardy. Some relatively minor replanting occurs to make up for wear and tear.

The best Okapi Exhibit in the world ? Maybe, it depends on how the okapis are live in the long winter time, I would say, they live the most of the year inside...Are the okapi stalls are visable to the public ?

The Okapis probably go out April-October as in most Northern Zoos. That is more than half the year.

I think that is a little unfair to judge how good an exhibit is based on its location in the country. Just because this okapi exhibit is in the Bronx where it gets freezing in the winter, does not mean it can't be the best.
