The last part of Jungleworld is a large, open room with painted storks, a huge pond with giant fish, waterfowl, other free-flying birds, and flying foxes.

Looks like it might be an Azure-Winged Magpie.

You sure? I'm no ornithologist, but the bird in my photo is black from the head down to the neck, and has a black tail. Azure-winged magpies are black-headed with azure, white-tipped tails that are grayish-blue underneath. Then again you said "might", so you don't sound too sure of that! :D

Looks quite a bit like a 'normal' Black-billed Magpie to me.

It does, doesn't it. What an odd thing to have in Jungle World.
    • BeardsleyZooFan
I didn't take a very good look at the bird.
Like Maguari and Ituri said, it does look like a Black-Billed Magpie, which makes even less sense than having Rodrigues Flying Foxes in JungleWorld.

That appears to be right, but I can't understand why the Bronx would have American birds in a Southeast-Asian-themed exhibit...

      EDIT:
Ituri and BZF must've posted whilst I was "researching" :p

What about a Eurasian magpie? I cannot tell the difference between that and black-billed.
    • AnaheimZoo
      Hmmm... That's tough to tell...

It looks like a Black-Billed Magpie.
