I have not seen Happy in years. It is good she was out in the main enclosure. Sad that the zoo is still planning on a phase out instead of being able to spend the $ on a new habitat. I know room for the exhibit is not the issue.

I read that article in the times. I don't know if I agree. Move the elephants out of Wild Asia and build a new elephant house then. I know the money would be astronomical, maybe Trump can sponsor a gaudy building.

Thylacinealive and I were talking in the chatroom the other day and the old Rare animal range and even parts of Asia parking was a possibility

I agree with both. Rare Animal Range is now 20 acres of unused land. However; if they could have enough parking elsewhere and use Asia Parking for Asian exhibits would be intriguing.

I think the main problem is they don't want to destroy the trees in the area hey save wildlife And wild places, and the empty exhibits aren't close to Wild Asia

Personally I think a large, year-round complex should be built in the old Rare Animal Range part of the zoo. This way the zoo could have both larger outdoor and indoor areas for the animals (if the project was done right anyhow) and then people could view them indoors during the colder months. This also brings out the possibility of breeding and, in the case of Happy, the ability to exhibit all the elephants at once without having them in the same yard.

This also leaves the zoo with the option to switch species to African Bush Elephant if they so please in the future.
