I hope, I ever will get another chance to see tarsiers, I very miss them at Frankfurt Zoo, and always, if I visit the Grizmekhouse and I see the formerly tarsier exhibit, which is now used for slender loris, I think to them.

I remember, as I arrived at the Cleveland Zoo, my first question was :"Is the tarsier still alive " ?

I've got today the Animal Inventory 2007 of the Ueno-Zoo Tokio, they keep two species of Tarsiers :
      1.2 Sulawesi Tarsier ( Tarsius spectrum )
      0.1 Philippine Tarsier ( Tarsius syrichta 9

Wow, Its very interesting to see that Ueno Zoo kept 2 tarsier species simultaneously! does anybody know where I can find this 2007 Animal Inventory list ?

Phillipine Tarsier is gone in the meantime, but the others doing pretty well.

I am sorry to hear that Philippine tarsier (Carlito syrichta) are no longer in Ueno Zoo's collection, it would have been nice to see two Tarsiidae species in the same collection simultaneously, but on the other hand, its nice to hear that their Sulawesi tarsier (Tarsius spectrum) are doing well, because normally tarsier dont do all that well in captivity

Thank you for the update Bib fortuna!

Nowadays keeping tarsiers is doing much better than in the 80ties, today it is much easier to feed them with living insects, and our knowledge about them has grown, too.The Phillipine Tarsier at Ueno was kept in a very ,very, very tiny cage-it had no change to jump in it, ( no trees, nothing was in the cage-only rocks)so it is better the zoo keeps only one species. The group of them is housed in normal sized exhibit, still to small for tarsiers, but they can move and jump-and they breed. At the time of my visit, two young, born a few weeks before my visit, were in the group. But, of course, tarsiers and still very sensitive animals.

I curious, if the RSCC can build a population out of his litte group of tarsiers, but without more animals and mroe holders I see no chance in it.
