what a very stranget set up for indoor accomodation for a bear????
    • zooman
I love it! Do the bears fully use the space?
    • Buckeye092
Yes they do. But because its two stories sometimes the bears wont always be up top, so you have to be lucky. Some people like the way its setup and others dont. I really like this exhibit because its a great representation of what Southeast Asia is turning into - Palm Oil Plantation.

I don't understand why people don't like it, as first of all there are barely any zoos where you can see sun bears indoors, and most indoor sun bear houses are tiny!

Too many people have limited imagination, the expectation of a naturalistic exhibit.

I love this idea "Palm Oil Plantation "

It would be really cool if they planted the elephant enclosure as a palm oil plantation

I wouldn't say i have a limited imagination:mad:, but to place a sun bear inside a sawmill, is a total misrepresentation of the species habitat and the habitat that needs preserving, perhaps showing us the bear in a sawmill, is saying to visitors as they walk away from this experience its ok everything is going to be fine when the loggers have cut down the rainforest, because the bears can live in the old disused sawmills.
And everything with the world was good again!

Kiang this was not directed at you. You did say you thought it strange! Not that you did not like it.

I think the problem with it that people have is that you need to be lucky to see the sun bear as it's harder to see up top. Four trips in winter--never seen them in there.
