ZOO Antwerpen - Nocturama (Pouched rat)
The exhibition area and exhibit for Gambian giant pouched rats (Cricetomys gambianus) inside the Nocturama in ZOO Antwerpen. The rats have two exhibits at their disposal and the exhibition is all about how they are used as mine clearing experts in Africa. The Nocturama is the zoos nocturnal house and was originally built as part of the Jubilee Complex which opened in 1968 to celebrate the zoos 125th anniversary (also including the Bird of Prey Aviaries, Aquaforum and Carnivore exhibits). It was later given a renovation and facelift in 2006. ZOO Antwerpen, July 2011.
