This is a gorgeous section of the zoo. Zero captive animals in this photo, but the entire Oklahoma Trails area of the zoo is quite impressive.

This is supposed to be Turner Falls a large waterfall in southern Oklahoma. I tried to get there when I went to OKC, but as it was pouring rain by the time I got to the falls I couldn't see it to get a photo.

Yeah, the really cool concept behind Oklahoma Trails is that it is a geographic, geologic, floral and faunal tour of the rich eco-zones found in this surprising state. I never knew before that OK was so diverse!

All of those things you mentioned make it one of the best zoo exhibits I've ever been to. (Also one of the reasons I want to go back soon!)

I remember the zoo advertising the fact that the fairly new (2007?) Oklahoma Trails section was 8 acres and a whopping 800 animals! Naturally even the smallest critters are being counted, but the North American representatives from the animal kingdom are mightily impressive at this top-notch zoo.

If they follow through with all of the plans for the Asian expansion it could easily out do Oklahoma Trails. It could be the best Asian Elephant exhibit in the US.

The zoo has just authorized the development of a new Master Plan. Anything can happen now and old plans may give way to new ideas.
Besides, would you bet on OK City Zoo's elephant exhibit over Dallas'? :D

Dallas' for Africans and OKC's for Asians.
