'the Columbia' referring to the US in general? I didn't realise it (/she) needed the definite article.

It looks like an impressive exhibit though.

The Columbia River....a major geological/hydrologic feature of the Pacific Nortwest, including cliffs that once probably created great nesting opportunities for California condors.
