former alligator exhibit

This used to be a very lushly planted swamp for alligators where you could walk out on that boardwalk. I really hope they do something to utilize this, because I hate to see such a great exhibit area sitting empty.

There are plans....wait and see. :)

You're not even going to give us a hint? (How about a PM at least)?

I was scratching my head on the future of this space, during my visit this past April. Come on Ituri, the suspense is killing some of us.
    • Ituri
Unfortunately, I've heard a couple different versions of what they plan to do, and not knowing which will happen I'm going to hold off until I know a little more.

As has been stated elsewhere, this exhibit is being renovated to house American White Pelican, Chilean Flamingo, Black-Necked Swan, and Mexican Red Brocket Deer.

Arizona Docent, did you happen to get to this exhibit on your recent trip, I hear it opened (with pelicans only so far) on Labor Day?
    • Arizona Docent
I was there late Saturday afternoon, two days before Labor Day, and ran by there last thing to see if the pelicans were there yet. Nothing was out yet, although the water (which I think was just filled) had green slime over the surface already. I wonder if they have a way to clean this? The bottom of the pool is all dirt, so traditional filters would be useless I presume.
    • Ituri
It's not slime, it's a plant called duckweed. It's next to impossible to get rid of.

does anyone know why the alligator exibit was closed down?
