      Wow! and I thought Cleveland had an outdated hippo exhibit

      I can't wait for the Elephant Trails habitat to open in 2011, as the hippos will be transferred to another zoo and the exhibit above will look much different then.

      Well, when did this exhibit open? Because Cleveland's opened in 1957

      The elephant house opened in 1936, just a few years older than Cleveland's.

      Has anybody seen this exhibit since the renovation was completed? Does this pool even exist anymore or was it wiped out in the remodel?

      Are the grey bars for people to escape in case they fell?

      u couldnt go up to the pool there was a rail i dont know what the bars were for

      the bars were to keep the hippos at a safe distance, and from lunging. also keeper safety. animals can't grab a foothold with the bars.
