minimal giraffe barrier

There used to be a chain link fence here. They replaced it with these logs. Apparently giraffes will not step over anything substantial, even small logs like this.

      I didn't understand that video on their website that makes it sound like this is new. They moved the giraffes to this enclosure constructed exactly this way years and years ago. The old giraffe exhibit still stands and at the time of my last visit held roan antelope.

      Yes, I have seen the video on their website and it is a bit misleading. The only "new" part is the replacement of the chain link on the front side with these logs. The video also states this is great for photographers. While it is certainly better, it is still a bare grass field with chain link behind, so it is really not that photo friendly. (There are a few other exhibits that are good for photos, though).

      No, there hasn't ever been chain link on the front side of this exhibit. Let me dig through my photos, I may have evidence.
