This exhibit looks small for three elephants and soon to be 4.
    • snowleopard
I agree, and like most elephant exhibits should be much bigger than it is.

It looks really nice but they need more room.I thought they had more paddocks
    • snowleopard
There is one large paddock, one smaller one, and then the elephant house.

What are those 5 bars? A barrier blocking access to the pond, or can the elephant move around them to the water?
    • fkalltheway
Whatever those bars were for they are not there any more.

Has anybody heard anything about renovations for this exhibit? Surely they can't continue to house elephants in an exhibit that's less than half an acre with the new AZA standards. Also they only have two elephants currently and I don't see how the exhibit could accommodate a third.

Losing it all for a herd of elephants? I do not mind expanding elephant exhibits, but I do mind that at the expense of the rest of a zoo animal collection.

The ever greater call for the wild, the larger, ever huge for one species … makes not a zoo of the future, but one giant elephant park. Is that what you want? So, be careful what you wish for …!
