Money has been spent here.I hope it is a success.

I hope so. They spent 5 mio euros to completely redevelop an area of 6 or 7 ha. They built new exhibits for: indian rhinos, giraffes, nilgau, blackbuk, rusa deer, cheetahs, pygmy rhinos, pelicans, bee-eaters, warty hogs, wanderus, marabous, crowned cranes, white-naped cranes, red pandas, bactrian camels, gazelles, kulans, kiangs, african parrots, several aviaries for asian birds, night section for small asian mammals, rock hyraxes, yellow mongooses etc..

Is this new area open to the public yet?

And how does this fit into the zoo's geographic theming?
    • Jana
The opening day is next week - 30th of June for invited guests and 1st of July for a general public.

It fits without problems, eastern part is for African animals only and the western part for Asian ones.

Thank you Jana - this is excellent news, as I am hoping to be in Plzen the following week. I have to say that I am really looking forward to it - it looks to be such an excellent zoo in so many ways.
