What is the largest spider that you have encountered in your travels?

I couldn't honestly say. I've only seen a couple of Asian mygalomorphs ("tarantulas") and they weren't overly big, so it would probably be between huntsmen like this one and Nephila which are very common throughout Asia and the Pacific (those are the giant orb-weaving ones which look terrifying but are completely harmless).

My brother's seen goliath bird-eating spiders in Guiana, and you don't get much bigger than those!

I do like spiders but when they are close I prefer them to be small ones :D
