Main entrance
The Lonely Planet guide states: " Just east of Mallasa is La Paz´s spacious, but sorely underfunded Vesty Pakos Zoo. Animal lovers may be upset by the poor conditions, however." I do not know much about animal lovers, but I was positivley surprised. As a zoo lover I would say that zoo is pretty nice (no really bad enclosures, only few old average enclosures) and clean. It is even forbidden to sale any food right in the zoo. You can buy it before you enter the zoo or from the old ladies who stay right behind the fencing (these ladies were the most negative of the whole visit, because they use noisy clacsons to advertise they are there). Zoo visitors (almost exlusively Bolivians) are well-behaving visitors. There were many families which just had a picnic at the zoo.
