Givskud Zoo - Wetlands Aviary

A view into the walkthrough Wetlands Aviary in Givskud Zoo. A densely planted aviary with a small pool that currently houses chilean flamingos (Phoenicopterus chilensis) and lesser flamingos (Phoeniconaias minor). Both species previously lived in open exhibits until 2011. The Wetlands Aviary opened in 1982 and was the first place in Denmark where sacred ibises bred. Many different species have been kept in here over the years. Until recently the inhabitants were spoonbills, ibises and egrets. July 2012
