Africa Rocks Construction - 6/18/2017 (14)

This bridge will certainly make it much easier to get from front to back of zoo and is a much needed addition.

I'm a little worried that it won't be open on July 1 as the map shown on the sdzoo website appears to be a kilt 1 map and it shows the bridge yet to be opened.

However based on what I saw and is in the pictures it looks to be very near to completion. I think some handrails were missing but that was it.
    • Arizona Docent
Since the bridge bypasses Africa Rocks, I don't think it is an issue to not be open by July 1. It may be faster to go through the large aviary to get to the bottom where the penguins will be?

The bridg doesn't entirely bypass AR as it has a stair/elevator stack leading to the canyon floor. This will provide easy access to AR from both bridge termini.

I didn't realize about the elevator (which is a good idea). The bridge should also lessen the lines for the Skyfari, which can be quite long on busy summer days.

They think the elevator won't be opened until the end of August.

@Arizona Docent I think the best way would be to bypass the aviary and use the stairs next to the aviary or take Fern Canyon down.
