      The public area of the orangutan house was being painted last week and this was how it looked as we left - fabulous :) Male, Dagu, was keeping a close eye on proceedings from one of the bridges over the area.

      Blimey! That's.... err... eye-catching! When I saw this photo, before I realised it was at Jersey (which I would always associate with great taste) I thought it might be at a Spanish safari park, or a zoo in one of the less cosmopolitan former Soviet states. Maybe it looks less over-powering in the flesh....?

      At this stage it was a work in progress. There is another orangutan face around the opposite doorway. It is being created by graffiti artists using spray paint and I thought it remarkable that they could produce a lifelike face in that way. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
