      Is this a wild animal?
Some great photos and so many rare and unusual species. The stories of your travels made great reading too. Thanks and well done.

@dublinlion - in Australia they don't put a visa stamp in your passport when you arrive in the country, they just give you what they call a Backpack Quokka. It shows that you have entered the country legally, and also protects your luggage against snakes.

The immigration officers at Perth Airport have quokkas on their desks which they pick up and stamp in an ink pad and then give you a paw stamp in your passport.

In actual fact British passport holders can now use the egates to enter Australia so you don't see an immigration officer at all and you don't even get a stamp.

This is indeed a wild quokka, but around the settlement on Rottnest they are quite used to begging for food off people.

On the topic of Australian customs...

@Macaw16 The question about soil is really annoying!

They also ask if you've been near freshwater in the last 30 days. I always have to ask yes to both of those and normally (or at Perth, where I usually enter Australia from) this just means they look at your shoes and run a sniffer dog past. But this time when I entered Australia at Darwin (which I don't think gets many international flights) the quarantine officer decided I had to unpack absolutely everything from my bags so it could all be inspected for soil.
