Asian area with elephants

Look at all of that hard-packed dirt and cement. Does the enclosure contain even one blade of grass? Surely there is some natural substrate somewhere outside of this camera angle.

@snowleopard The back hill has grass from time to time. Otherwise it looks like compacted dirt to me.

One improvement I'd suggest is to put the entire exhibit under an ETFE roof, adding numerous tropical plants. The moat would be filled in for the elephants, and the elephants would be positioned on a promentory plane looking down upon visitors. Malayan tigers and clouded leopards would be brought in, the bull elephant yard could be expanded, maybe even a shoreside exhibit for gharial. Hannover has the funds, I wish they had a mindset for animal welfare and theming. Amazing theming, mediocre animal exhibits.

@snowleopard Sadly there is not really any better place outside of this photo. The rest of it pretty much looks the same.
I think the elephant enclosure, the leopard enclosures, and the penguin enclosure is the ones I really did not enjoy much, the rest was decent to very good in my opinion.
      Overall I really enjoyed it.

The whole area is under construction now. More space for elephants and a new big Indoors

@Animal That's... AMAZING! Are there any renderings?

Not that I know of. Also the fence in the picture was put there, because they switched to protected contact.
