New European mink exhibits - First of three exhibits (Oct 13th, 2018)

Finished in 2018, these new exhibits replaced the former European mink exhibit seen here: https://www.zoochat.com/community/media/gaiapark-mink-exhibit.58568/ . This exhibit has been largely demolished, the new European hamster exhibits built on the left-over foundations. Home to a new pair.

That is a lot better than their previous cage, which was one of the very few bad enclosures here...

@lintworm I agree, the mink cage was one of the very few poor exhibits at GaiaZoo. It wasn't wholly inadequate for the animal I'd say, but it was definitely on the small side and it sure didn't look good.

That said, the European minks were already a challenge to find in their old exhibit and will be even more so in the new one.

I was lucky to see one only because I just happened to pass by while one of the keepers was feeding them. That said, at the time of my visit they'd only been in there for a week, so maybe they'll become more visible in the future... but that seems somewhat unlikely to me.

These are tremendous additions to what is apparently an already great, medium-sized zoo. I had a good friend visit a couple of years ago and he raved about this place and I look forward to visiting this summer.

@snowleopard I agree, it was a welcome improvement to the place as they got rid of one of their few weak exhibits.

I know this place quite well as it the Dutch zoo I have visited the most times, as it is the one we can reach the quickest from where I live and because it is a rather nice modern zoo. We've also had a membership card for a few years now. We usually go to GaiaZoo 2 or 3 times each year.

I think you will like this zoo when you visit next year.

I am also planning to post more pictures from this place from my most recent visit which I assume you and ZooChat will appreciate, even though I don't have a 100% complete overview from my last visit (might have to complete it later on with older images, perhaps?).
