My Ideal Edinburgh Zoo Map

This would be my ideal Edinburgh Zoo, making use of as much space as possible as it is a big place with not a lot going on in most areas (at the moment). I realise that most of it is WAY too overcrowded so please comment and criticise!

    • Scottish Wildcat
      Interesting ideas!

      Things I like:
      • Use of the top of the zoo, especially the savannah paddock for rhinos (though I would put something else in there) and the reuse of the old carnivore rows for smaller carnivores (no Scottish wildcats though boooo)
      • The snow leopards and zebra/giraffe exhibit in the top left, gives an incentive for people to actually use that part of the zoo for once
      • You use quite a lot of areas that the zoo doesn't
      • Sloth bears! Indian leopards! Okapis!! Fossa!!!
      • The Australia section (ambitious as it is)
      • Reptile and nocturnal houses (Magic Forest sucks)
      • That pool for sea lions would be cool
      Criticisms:
      • No Scottish wildcats!
      • I would've kept Budongo and Living Links the way they were, neither proboscis monkeys or orangutans I think could hold down those large areas the same way their current residents do. There's plenty of room in Budongo for some reptile tanks though I feel. Maybe an extension?
      • Giant Pandas still there. Boooo
      • A lemur house AND a lemur walk-through? I would leave one of those to monkeys, up to you which (although you could maybe also convert the monkey house into a reptile house)
      • Do the Amur tigers still have access to that new tiger enclosure built for them? If not that old enclosure is totally inadequate for two animals. There's still some space at the top of the zoo you could be using (and I think not having lions might hurt)
      • The penguin pool is too iconic to house anything else I think, and I don't think the enclosure just over the zoo gate is big enough even for just the Kings
      • Not enough "free space" in the lower zoo, though I know that's what you're going for. There needs to be some open patches for guests to just lounge around and picnic on. I would remove the peccary and aardwolf exhibits (although that pains me, maybe the aardwwolves could go in those small enclosures next to what is now the Indian leopard? They would probably be stressed out in the open like that)
      • Your area for the margay MIGHT work, not sure though. Also have my doubts about the Indian leopards. Are the small carnivore exhibits at the side still in use?
I really did love this though, great job! How did you actually make it?

      @Scottish Wildcat

I just found an empty version of the map online and added the text over the top.
edinburgh zoo black map - Google Search:
      • The Scottish Wildcats aren't there because I've already seen them multiple times at the British Wildlife Centre and I wanted something more exotic although I'm sure I could fit them at the top!
      • It seems like they could do more with Budongo even if it's just a couple of terrariums inside and as for Living Links I think the species in question feature too heavily in zoos anyway so something more unusual would be interesting.
      • I agree that it is too densly populated at the bottom of the zoo and the only reason the Giant Pandas are still there is because I have yet to actually see them!
      • I did wonder about the lemurs - the walk-through would probably be better as monkeys, maybe Squirrel Monkeys, Saki or Capuchin.
      • The Amur Tigers would have access to their new enclosure so enough space.
      • It's just a shame that the penguin area is so big - it could easily be converted into a seal / sea lion exhibit.
      • If you planted some dense foliage in the Indian Leopard exhibit with some web cams it might work.
      • I'm not even sure what was or is there where I put the Margays - just though it would fill the gap nicely. It was them or Ocelots!

I couldn't seem to find the blank zoo map from the link? When I saved it from google images it was too small.

      Thank you! It worked

I would personally keep the chimpanzees where they are, but I definitely agree with changing the living links exhibit because those species are seen in most zoos. However, I would move the Indian Rhinos into where you are currently suggesting the white or black rhinos should go, as they are a popular visitor attraction. Also, Edinburgh zoo have announced a new project to have giraffes where you are currently suggesting. I love this design though and think that some of these animals would greatly improve Edinburgh Zoo.
