Queens Zoo king vulture and burrowing owl

      Interesting combo. Vulture's plenty big enough to hurt/kill the owl, but the owl is far more agile and since their preferences in exhibit area don't overlap I guess it would work ok.

      If my memory serves me right a long while back, maybe even a decade the zoo used to have king vulture free ranging in the walk through aviary. Anyone else remember this?

      @nczoofan I think they had turkey vultures in the aviary. This was before they started displaying macaws and parrots. I also seem to recall them having a magpie in there too, but that was back around 2000.

      Yes, and they still do, but none of them are on this photo. All three of those species share the exhibit.
