This just shows how depressing the cat complex was. I am not sure what Subspecies of tiger this is. I think Siberian. It Might be Indochinese or bengal but I don't remember if they held this species at the time of this photo was taken.

It looks like Siberian and yes this is depressing. I am very glad they are fixing this. A lot of people on this forum say this zoo is one of the best in America (top five), but based on photos I have never had a desire to go and it doesn't look that great to me. I recently had a conversation with another ZooChatter who has been to the zoo and is the first one to agree with me that it's really not that great. Still I am glad the cats got an upgrade which improves the zoo.

@Arizona Docent I can agree with most of this, but here's a few pointers. For one thing, I can definitely agree it's not perfect, but I disagree that it's not in the top 5 Best zoos in America. I think It's deserves a spot in the top 5, Not first of course, but 3rd or below. Its exhibits may not exactly be top notch, but its collection of animals is impressive. Much Like the collection of the Plzen zoo.
Mild exhibits, but an astounding collection. On the other hand, I do think that the cat complex and bear exhibits were just horrible, But that's in the past now. Some of the cats have beautiful enclosures now, like the one for the Amur tigers, and the one for the African lions. But those bad exhibits are all in the past now. I think the zoo is realizing what mistakes they made in the past, and now creating brand new amazing exhibits like Asian Highlands and African grasslands. I am also excited to see what Sea lion shores looks like.

      Best wishes,
      Luke ;)

Edit: By the way I have been almost 7 times already, and each Visit I have enjoyed. I don't know why you and a few other chatters won't go to Omaha. The experience is amazing.

@Luke da Zoo nerd What dates did you visit? (I assume by almost seven times you mean six :p)

Maybe he means he almost visited seven times, and he's never actually visited :p
    • Luke da Zoo nerd
@TeaLovingDave first of all, @FunkyGibbon is right. And second of all, I have visited. I literally have photos of it posted on zoochat. How you would assume that I have never visited is beyond me. I am not really sure why you are are implying this. It's ridiculous.

Actually what I was driving at is that it doesn't really look like this photo was taken in 2015.
