How is the species count/ population density in here? Never been but would like to visit, hopefully sooner than later!
    • Hipporex
@Great Argus Honestly I couldn't even begin to guess. Flying throughout the dome are about 10 to 15 species of lepidopteran and 5 to 7 species of bird. Then of course there's the 50+ species of inverts and herps in the tanks and terrariums. You should definitely make the time to visit though. I always have a blast visiting.

@Hipporex Thanks, I hope to! What birds did you note?
    • Hipporex
@Great Argus Just a couple tanagers (not included the clipped macaws) but signage and vocalizations indicated a good amount more.

@Hipporex which tanager species, if you recall?
    • Hipporex
@jayjds2 Unfortunately I do not. Sorry

@jayjds2 I’m planning a visit in January so I can check on what species are currently there if you are still interested.

@jayjds2 Hey if you are still interested, I managed to find a listing for every bird and herp in the Osher rainforest. I should maybe make this into a thread but I forgot to record the fish species near the top of the exhibit. Here is the list:

Birds- Blue-and-gold macaw, Violaceous euphonia, Yellow rumped cacque, Burnished-buff tanager, Blue necked tanager, Bay-headed tanager, and silver beaked tanager.*

Herps (Reptiles, Amphibians, and the insects that I managed to record)- Panamanian golden frog, Glass frog**, Sungei tawan toad, Red-tailed green ratsnake, African giant millipede, Golden silk spider***, Baron's painted mantella, Neon day gecko, Golden mantella, Southeastern girdled lizard, Garden tree boa, Spiny turtle, Rentrap's Asian tree toad, Dead leaf mantis, common flat-tailed gecko, Madagascar day gecko, Sambava tomato frog, and Paradise tree snake.

Free flying butterflies- Forest giant owl, Owl butterfly, Sapho longwing, Zebra longwing, Doris longwing, Erato longwing, Tiger longwing, Juno longwing, Banded orange heliconian, Isabella's longwing, and Julia heliconian

I know there are some insects and fish that are missing but I just don't remember the names. There was another mantid species and a katydid species along with some beetle species. I hope you get something from these lists

      * I have never seen any bird in the rainforest in all my visits. I only hear them. As a result I am not to sure how reliable the signage is since it could be from many years back.

      **Species not listed

      *** Species is Trichonephila clavipes
