Some final views of the Asian greenhouse in its present form, as it has since been closed to the public for the upcoming nearby construction of the new orangutan house and for future renovation and refurbishment.

Are they demolishing the building or just refurbishing and adding orangutans?

@DelacoursLangur The orang-utans, as was discussed in the Planckendael news thread and as I commented on another image, will go into a new building adjacent to the existing Asian greenhouse. The existing Asian greenhouse is going to be refurbished, but what is going to become of it is as of yet unclear and there is very little information on Planckendael's plans for its future.

@KevinB Interesting, I was just asking because from all the pictures it looks like a really nice indoor rainforest (with the exception of the bare gibbon island), seems strange to demolish.

@DelacoursLangur I would agree that it was quite nice-looking, although the walk-through experience wasn't great as the birds in there, apart from a few exceptions, never really showed themselves that well for some reason.

I just hope that the future of the greenhouse will be animal-focused and that they don't get rid of the nice landscaping entirely.
