Aviary Inca jay - Grey-winged trumpeter (Sep 16th, 2018)

Cyanocorax yncas and Psophia crepitans. One of the aviaries in the old pheasantry, one of the last remains of Burgers' Zoo's old bird area and admittedly one of the weakest if not the weakest part of the zoo.

I actually kindof like the charm of old aviaries and exhibits like this. So long as its not inhumane I much prefer the aesthetic of old exhibits to new construction...

@DelacoursLangur Personally I'm not a big fan of the look of old yet not quite historical/heritage exhibits like this one, but you can give me a good large block or row of decent aviaries any day and I'll be happy, especially if it houses some parrots and/or less common species (or both).

That said I think the old aviary block at Burgers' Zoo is still pretty decent. They have maintained it well through the years and made some necessary modifications to continue using it.

I quite like the old aviary block, both the indoor and outdoor aviaries. For the birds they are for the most part as good if not better then many newer aviaries in other parks. I always love it how old exhibits are refitted to modern standards, like with the Artis bird house or the Antwerp Ape house. Even when it's something so basic as this aviary block. For the same reason I do hope that even though the chimp and gorilla indoor housing deserves improvement (multiple compartments for privacy purposes), that they will keep the old indoor exhibits as well instead of demolishing them.
