Mekong River - Paddy Field Aviary

Mekong River - Paddy Field Aviary

The aviary was recently re-landscaped, with a small pond and artificial fallen tree added. It now houses Painted Storks, Nankeen Night Herons, Eurasian Spoonbills and Spotted Whistling Ducks. Shame that most of the species are not native to the Mekong region.

So much potential for this to have become a Tonle Sap exhibit, with the retained milky and lesser adjutant storks, Sarus cranes(?), and potentially with successful diplomatic trust, giant ibis (Thaumatibis gigantea).

@Shaun_Casuarius Sarus cranes might be too territorial to be mixed with storks. As for giant ibis, it will be hard to acquire as conservation efforts for this species are primarily in-situ. In any case, the current species mix for this aviary is far too geographically inaccurate (masked lapwing have recently been added).
