      "I think this may be the first recorded sighting in my area... :)"

      Highly doubtful - the species is near-ubiquitous throughout much of the United Kingdom, and is pretty much only absent from the high tops of the Scottish Highlands, and the most remote regions of the Western Isles and Shetland.

      Yes, but nobody has actually recorded a Sparrowhawk sighting in my area before...
      I have checked on almost all the large bird databases. :)
      And yes, clearly they do range into my area, as this photo shows, but that doesn't mean there has been a recorded sighting...

      I mean, they aren't the commonest of common birds in Central London, although they always were going to end up here given the high tit and sparrow population round here :)

      Have you considered that people don't tend to report and upload sightings of ubiquitous birds to databases like that? :p elsewise they would be absolutely overloaded with sightings of feral pigeon and sparrow!

      It's still the first recorded sighting in my area :D, they just haven't bothered to record it :p

      @amur leopard Did you report the sighting to the local birding chapter? They can often give additional information on records that might be otherwise hard to find. That was how I have 2 confirmed area firsts.

      @Great Argus
      No, sorry, I don't know where to find them :(
      Is it a website or a physical place? It might not exist over here, especially because I live in pretty built up Central London where there isn't very much birdlife other than tits, sparrows, magpies, ravens and pigeons.
      Thanks

      @amur leopard I would guess probably website and then you could contact them from there. That's how most local birding chapters are here, they don't have a specific building but meet once a month or so.
