The zoo’s young female Pygmy Hippopotamus, Kamina. She is currently one of five Pygmy Hippopotamus in Australia across four facilities. She is also the only hippo of any kind currently in Queensland. She was born at Taronga Zoo in 2017 and moved to the zoo in 2018. The keeper conducting the talk mentioned that when they are able to import hippos in Australia the male would live next door where the dam is located.
