Woma Python Enclosure

Woma Python Enclosure

Nice looking exhibit! How many are kept in there and are they breeding them? I used to keep a breeding pair of Woma python (Aspidites ramsayi) myself.

@UngulateNerd92 There are three in the enclosure but they have many more Womas off-display. The zoo breeds Woma Pythons very regularly (last clutch they announced was back in January). They apparently house a southern Queensland form of the species that is particularly threatened.

@WhistlingKite24 ah very interesting! I am glad to see them breeding. Is the southern Queensland form a distinct population segment? Perhaps an undescribed subspecies?
    • WhistlingKite24
@UngulateNerd92 Not 100% sure. The zoo often talks about them like a distinct subspecies but none of my Australian reptile guides recognise any subspecies for Womas.

@WhistlingKite24 ah yes, I figured they were monotypic. That is how I always understood their systematics. Why does the zoo talk about them like they are distinct?
