What was your opinion of the other snake house?

Ummm...... different.

Probably not the best design, but was probbaly an architect's experiment many years ago.

Could be made better if it was covered in soil and grass, or hidden by vegetation.

It works suprisingly effectively at retaining heat, but i think depseratly needs more light!

I would call it some classic Bredl-tecture

Rob was talking at one stage about building outdoor yards for all the snakes on the outside of it, don't know how far this plan got.

There are currently no outside enclosures around the 'lump'. But they would certainly be a welcome addition.

And you're right - it is a little dim inside, although that could be rectified with stronger lights.
