      Auckland Zoo continues to impress with a series of new exhibits, but what are the long-term plans for the Asian Elephant complex?

      @snowleopard That’s the million dollar question. The official line is no decision has been made (and that’s possibly true). Some people have speculated hippos might be making a return to Auckland Zoo (and they will indeed need something impressive to replace the elephants). My money however is on a large flamingo aviary. This was mentioned in the zoo’s 2014 masterplan; and with the continued breeding success/expansion of their flock, this may be a priority.
