It's sad that this year Anjalee & Burma will be leaving New Zealand, (but it's for the best).
There will probably never be anymore elephants in New Zealand.

@Escher Nicholls Yes after close to a century, Auckland Zoo are phasing out the elephants. It’s truly the end of an era. Auckland Zoo have no plans to reacquire them in the future; and almost 40 years after phasing them out themselves, Wellington Zoo have no plans either.

Hamilton Zoo and Orana Wildlife Park wouldn’t be able to afford them and therefore have no intention of acquiring them in the future. It’s a shame as I always thought African elephants would be a good fit for Orana.

@Zoofan15 yeah because Orana Wildlife Park is African themed for the most part,
but I feel like in the future they could maybe get Black Rhinoceros & help save them from extinction.

@Escher Nicholls It would be great to see Orana Wildlife Park hold two species of rhino. The suitability of the Southern white rhinoceros to living in herds makes them the ideal fit at the moment; not that they had an easy time establishing a herd.
