African Journey | Zoo Tours

You might be looking at that thumbnail and title and wonder if this week's episode is another traditional African Savanna - full of animals we've seen and will see over and over again. I can promise you that's not the case. The African Journey at the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo is an overlooked attraction at an even more overlooked park. If you're looking for traditional wildlife of the Sarengeti, this exhibit has you covered - if you're looking for species we rarely ever see, then stop reading and click on that link! Fort Wayne's African excursion opened in 2009 (replacing an African section of the 70's), the half mile trail spares no effort to bring as many environments of Africa as possible to you. Wetlands, deserts, shrublands, rainforests, savannas - it's all there. This episode showcases the friendship between a warthog and mongooses (not meerkat), a kind of antelope that loves to swim, the 37,000 year old rivalry between lions and hyenas, why there's a Russian cat display in an African area, and I try to make my case on why this zoo needs to go on your travel list. I hope you're free for 20 minutes because this is yet ANOTHER long and large scale Zoo Tour - Enjoy!
