This makes for an interesting comparison, especially for me because I visited so many Dutch zoos on my 2019 road trip. Apenheul's exhibit is enormous and an incredible gorilla habitat, while Amsterdam's is clearly the smallest. It's interesting that the Blijdorp exhibit is already a decent enclosure and yet the zoo has plans for an all-new gorilla exhibit by 2030.

I always thought Blijdorp's enclosures was one of the biggest ones, while Beekse Bergen (again) were on the smaller side (and Ouwehands the smallest, as I've never visited Artis). But after making this I realised most exhibits are very similarly sized.

@snowleopard The outdoor exhibit at Apenheul is great, but unfortunately the indoor housing for the gorillas there is really outdated. Now if Apenheul had an indoor exhibit like, say, GaiaZoo, I would probably call it a world class gorilla exhibit.

@Mr Gharial you never visted Artis ?. You live in such a smal country, but you nevr visted one of hte most known zoos in the netherlands ?

Do note:

- Probably the country with the most zoos per square meter

- I've only started my zoo obsession since during corona

- Artis is also known as one of the worst zoos in the Netherlands

And!

- I was terminally ill for most of my life, so every attempt of going to Artis so far has been interrupted by an episode of... sick people things...
