Did you happen to find out what happened to the zoo's remaining ostrich?

@OkapiFan Redbird died around a month ago. The zoo is planning to gain a new group of ostriches by the end of the year. The zoo's hoping to get them young so that they can grow up used to the keepers.

Do you know if the ostriches will only go into the Forest Edge or if some if go onto the Watani Grasslands?

@OkapiFan They're definitely going into Forest Edge. Last I heard, Watani is still up in the air but the keepers want ostriches there again.

@Breckenridge I hope the Watani keepers get what they want as keepers too seldom do; however, I simply cannot imagine wanting ostriches back… I temporarily took care of four them for another department through the bird flu, and I could not wait to be rid of them. To each their own, but they are not for me!

How big is this enclosure?

@Moebelle It's 3.5 acres with 2.2.0 giraffes and 1.2.0 zebras.

@Breckenridge I should have looked at the map as a reference first, I had not previously realized it stretched nearly the same length as the two elephant yards combined.
