      Were they in a mixed exhibit at the time? Because I remember sometime in the 1990s Eastern giant eland being mixed with Black-faced Impala.

      I must admit I don't know anymore... Unfortunately I don't have further pictures that could prove that.
    • UngulateNerd92
      @Jogy ah ok, I understand.

      I remember black-faced impala being mixed in a different exhibit. I wanna say it was the Beisa and a gazelle species. The Giant Eland used to be closer to the Skyfari, mixed with Marabou Stork. I'm sure over the years things shuffled around though.

      @UngulateNerd92 Where did the black-faced impala at San Diego end up? Could they be the herd kept at the National Zoo of South Africa?
    • Ituri
      Not likely, the herd thinned out until, when I saw it, there were 1 or 2 individuals left.
      Nix and UngulateNerd92 like this.

      @Ituri when was the last year you saw them? and would you happen to know where San Diego Zoo's Black-faced impala founders came from?
    • Ituri
      I don't know to both answers. Definitely was no later than the mid-to-late 90's. No clue where they came from.

      I think it was @Giant Eland who told me about the Eastern giant elands mixed with Black-faced impalas on Horn & Hoof Mesa, or at least he posted about it somewhere in the forum.
