Lower area of chimpanzee enclosure

It’s interesting to see a zoo using a moat as one of the barriers. A number of Australasian zoos use them for their great apes, but there’s been three drownings to date - in 1996, 1999 and 2021.

@Zoofan15 you can see the electric fence to stop the chimps trying to catch the common carp that are in the moat

@felis silvestris Native turtles were the fascination of Taronga’s chimpanzees until the keepers removed them.
