Berlin Tierpark - Reindeer exhibit

Berlin Tierpark - Reindeer exhibit

Photos of the major exhibits of Berlin Tierpark have already been uploaded many times here on Zoochat, so I'll try to fill in some gaps by uploading photos of the less famous exhibits.

This exhibit houses Eurasian forest reindeer. This exhibit was already covered in an earlier photo in this gallery (Berlin Tierpark 2004 - Reindeer enclosure - ZooChat), but I feel like this photo shows the size of the exhibit better - otherwise, I try my best to not upload photos of exhibits covered by other users so that I don't waste too much server space or steal other people's thunder.

      July 2022.

@Hvedekorn I wouldnt worry too much about server space or stealing thunder. Sure its good to try and be selective about what photos you post and not polute the albums with blurry or bad pictures. But I for one love to see new angles and the changes in exhibits over time. Tierpark in particular I would love to see more of the Alfred house and elephant facilities!

@DelacoursLangur Server space is a valid worry, actually - some years before you joined, lack of server space caused a major purge of the gallery where many photos of especially less-known zoos were lost. Even currently, there's a temporary ban on requesting new galleries because these also take up a lot of server space. Simon Hampel did say a similar purge wouldn't happen again, but it's probably still a good idea not to tempt fate.

As for stealing thunder, I personally do get a bit annoyed when some users upload photos nigh-identical to my photos and get all the attention, especially because I spend time hand-picking my photos and often also spend time writing descriptions for them. I think it's perfectly okay if their photos show something new about the exhibit - but then they should write why they're different than my photo in the description (e.g. shows more of the exhibit/the exhibit has gone through a minor renovation etc.). Often it seems like they're just not bothering to use the search function.

It may be just me feeling this way, of course.

@Hvedekorn Interesting, I had no idea server space was such an issue. Thats a real shame they lost many photos from smaller institutions.
