I thought this was a nile monitor? The exhibit also holds an East African Black Mud Turtle.

@Neil chace I think so, I didn't get around to checking what I had written down lol. I didn't see the turtle in there! It really needs signs.

@TinoPup agreed. Signage is not one of the strong points of the WCS, although overall Bronx Zoo didn't suffer from signage problems nearly as much as a few of the smaller zoos, there were only a few small spots like this where it was a problem at the Bronx.

@Neil chace Much of the time their signage is out of date though, too. Not my first time ranting about their signage :D

@TinoPup I will say a lot of their non-animal specific signage (e.g. a lot of the more broad signage about the Congo not focusing on a specific species) was excellent and engaging- especially in the Congo and near Tiger Mountain. What was especially frustrating for me was signage in World of Reptiles. When I first arrived, there was no signage whatsoever...then halfway through the building the signage's back lights turned on and suddenly there were a bunch of signs! I backtracked to see what I was missing...to find out my friends and I certainly made a number of *interesting* misidentifications. I'm assuming the signs being off was at no fault of the zoo (e.g. out of order), but it shows the problem with when technology is essential to signage working.

@Neil chace They redid most of those signs recently, too. Some of the lighting didn't work at all, some the signs were too faded to read anyway. It's a lot better now, but they still have a few signed for the wrong species, species missing signs, etc.

@TinoPup huh, I don't recall any of the signage I saw as seeming incorrect (although if it was between morphologically similar species that could just be due to the fact I'm not a herp expert), can you think of any examples off hand that are incorrect?
