Dortmund Zoo - Rumah Hutan

The new rainforest house in Dortmund Zoo, built to house sumatran orang-utans and malayan tapirs. The outdoor enclosure is split in two by a low wall of rocks, keeping the tapirs on one side, but letting the orangs use both sides.

      Very interesting exhibit!

How do the Orangs interact with the tapirs and vice versa?

When I visited, they pretty much ignored each other. The orangs walked about on the ground in the tapir-part of the enclosure, but they didn't mind each other at all. I think the enclosure could do with a few more actual trees, but otherwise it's realy cool.
