Just a pink scarlet ibis or a possible eudocimus hybrid?

The bird behind had a dark coloured beak and pale pink-white feathers. Personally, I believe that is just a very pale scarlet ibis, but as the two eudocimus species lived together for many years couldn't this be an ibis hybrid too? The other two birds in the photo are a white ibis and a stone curlew

I'd say that this is a pale scarlet ibis (with an American white in the foreground). Did you get photos of any others? Or perhaps any flamingos? I'd be much more convinced if other scarlets or flamingos were very brightly coloured. Everything else fits with scarlet ibis.

Thanks for these photos. I'm aware that they're almost a year old, but do you remember seeing any monk seals at the zoo?

You are welcome!:).Yes, I have photos of other scarlets and flamingos, but I didn't have time to post them.I will try to post them as soon as I can. Both of them have bright colours. In fact that pale bird was the only one with this colour in the zoo, so I thought that it could be a hybrid.

Sorry but the park had never this magnificent and rare species of seal.On the other hand, it used to have a pair of californian sea lions(2010-2013?) and now a pair of harbour seals(2013?-now).I would like to see some monk seals at the park because as a native Greek species I think that it could help people learn about its habits and how to protect it, but I am not sure if it is legal.Maybe someone more informed could tell us if there are or were any monk seals in zoos and how they do in captivity:confused:.By the way thank you for your opinion about the id of the ibis

      Thanks.
I believe the zoo holds a rescued monk seal currently (sometimes visible through the gift shop [?] according to zootierliste.de).
I'm aware the zoo frequently takes in rescues and works closely with MOM, but wasn't sure if the current rescue was visible to the public. :)

Monk seal? Forget the currency crisis- I need to get to Greece, now!

most of the rescued animals at the zoo have been strictly off-show, but i was intrigued to find the reference to being able to publicly view the animal(s) on zootierliste

The pink color of scarlet ibises and flamingos both derive from the high level of carotenoids present in their natural shrimp diets. Feed them a low-carotene diet, they pale and can eventually turn white. So it could very well just be a scarlet ibis being fed low-carotene food.

At Devilfish:Yes the park takes part in many rescues and rehabilizations which are not visible to the public. I am not sure if the park works with MOM also, but if it does and has or had a rescued monk seal I think that it would be in or near the back, no-visitor acces side of the dolphinarium, beacause there is more water area there than the sliders and flamingo pools that are near the gift shop:)

At Thaumatibis:If you want to see so much a monk seal and more specificaly a wild monk seal you can come to Samos(East Aegean's island) and be a double-winner. You will make relaxed vacations and also meet Argyro. Argyro is a young female monk seal that has been the celebrity of the island tfor the last two years. The young seal was named by fishermen beacause she used to swim near a port. But the seal was not afraid of people at all and used to come closer to the sore and to them. Finally, she decided to leave the sea and take a nap on a sunbed and even in a house's yard! Now she has her own part on the beach;) I tried to upload some photos but I managed nothing, so I'll give a link if you or someone else want to see her
