Sloth Bear enclosure at Artis 2002

Is this sloth bear cement pit still in existence or has it been demolished by now? It is interesting how there are still many concrete grottoes for bears all over the world, although not nearly as many as there were a decade or two ago.

Currently home just to coatis following the transfer of female Spectacled Bear 'Franka' to Chester recently.

Artis abondoned keeping indian sloth bears in 2003 after the death of the breeding brace "Silvester" and "Sonja". The last offspring from 1999 was shipped to Japan und Nikolaev. Unfortunately the female already passed away....

Thanks guys, and that is great news (written on the coati enclosure photo) that this pit will soon be demolished. Bravo!

Currently, the pit is home for a Polar Bear again...

But only for a few months, "Sprinter" will move to Hannovers Yukon Bay.
