Construction of new clouded leopard enclosure

The new enclosure is l-shaped . As the top is below the level of the walls it is not very high , which I think is a shame . Probably smaller than the enclosure behind the Amur leopard where they currently live .

That enclosure behind the leopards is deceptive, it's much smaller than it looks if you get close to it. This probably has a larger footprint, but it doesn't look to be an improvement, especially when the zoo has so much available (empty) space elsewhere.

I would prefer to see a really tall cage built in one of the wooded areas . The Howletts clouded leopards have been visible high up in their cages on my last few visits .

I have to say I am not sure where you all got your info from about this,being for Clouded leopard as thats not what the signs are saying now,as they are saying it is for this picture now http://www.zoochat.com/197/view-construction-new-ground-hornbill-aviary-314969/ .Also from what I was told yesterday the Clouded Leopards will be getting the Amur Leopard enclosure when that animal leaves,which I have always believed the plan has been ever since the Clouded Leopards arrived!

When I visited the sign on the enclosure said it was for clouded leopards . I got the impression that they were expecting a new pair of Amur leopards with the old female being rehoused in a 'retirement home ' .

Plans seem to have changed !

It had something to do with... see attached.

Well in that case they have gone back to plan A then!

Glad to see that I was not starting to imagine things in my old age !!!!

I'm sure you'll all agree that this is much better suited to ground hornbills? Hopefully they'll build a nice tall enclosure somewhere for the leopards!
