Carlos, any info on the crocs as to provenance and purity?

Only at the Zapata Swamp does a resident group of purebred Cuban crocs, but part of the swamp has American crocs Crocodylus acutus and hybrids have been demonstrated to exist there in the wild.

The other location with crocs at Birama Swamp is solely C. acutus.

It was found in recent captive / wild studies that very few female and purebred Cuban crocs remain, even in the captive breeding station established for the species on Cuba. The zoo in Stockholm (Skansen Akvariet) is assisting with establishing a proper conservation breeding program with known purebred founders on Cuba.

A keeper at the Havana City zoo told me that the crocodiles there and at zoologico nacional were purebred. That is all i know.
