elephant construction

March 13, 2010. Base for mud bank wall that will be on back perimeter of exhibit. Have to build foundation well below ground to make it elephant proof. Above ground section will be around twelve feet tall.

      Why 12 feet? Much higher than needed to contain even bull elephants....

      Probably because it is right along a major street. To block the street from the zoo visitors view (for a more natural look) and to block the exhibit from the drivers view (so no one gets free looks).
